Filter

Control the device and time range for the other widgets

The filter bar at the top of your dashboard, next to the title, is its control center: here you choose which device and which time range show up in every other widget that follows this filter — recognizable by the 🔗 icon in its header (see Customizing widgets). Unlike the widgets below it, the bar is always there — it can't be hidden, moved or resized.

The filter bar with device, time range and refresh interval

  • Device: type to search, or click the arrow to list all of your devices.
  • Time range: a preset range like "Last 12 hours", or your own custom range via the calendar.
  • Refresh interval: off, 30 seconds, 1, 5 or 15 minutes — the arrow on the far right also refreshes immediately, without waiting.

Administrators additionally find a "Show all devices" option in the gear menu at the right end of the bar, to pick devices they don't own themselves — it's marked red since it's staff-only. If you don't see it, that's normal.

Saving a layout as a template

The gear menu at the right end of the bar (which also holds + Widget and Reset) additionally lets you save the current dashboard — layout and every widget's content — as a template, if you're allowed to:

  • The save entry saves it as this one device's own individual default. Anyone who can see this device gets this layout instead of the general default for its device type.
  • The globe entry saves it as the default for the entire device type — every device of that type without its own individual default falls back to it. This option is marked red and only visible to administrators, since it affects every device of the type.
  • A small tag next to each save entry shows whether such a default is available at all: Not set, In use (this dashboard currently resolves to it) or Overridden (the device-type default is saved, but the device has its own, which takes precedence).
  • Once a default is saved, a Delete entry (trash icon) appears below it. Whoever may save a default may also delete it: the individual default only the device's first owner, the device-type default only administrators. The page then reloads to show what the dashboard falls back to.

Both actions ask for confirmation before saving.
